Vets Now King’s Lynn is part of the Vets Now emergency veterinary group (a network of 60+ clinics) and is set up for out‑of‑hours care for small animals when regular practices are closed, with the option of video consultations via Vets Now. In the latest reviews, some owners describe being seen quickly for urgent problems (including choking and breathing distress) and mention diagnostics like ultrasound and pain relief given on the night. Pricing is a major decision point: multiple reviewers describe very high out‑of‑hours fees (including being quoted “over £200” before attending, and charges in the hundreds for visits and treatment), while others say the speed and availability are worth it in an emergency.
3.9 stars from 41 reviews. - Fast access in emergencies: several owners say they were seen promptly/straight away, including for choking and acute breathing problems.

Seen promptly - lovely staff

I turned up with a deer at 10:30pm last night that had been hit by a car and had a broken leg. Unfortunately the local wildlife hospital was closed otherwise I would have taken it there. The poor animal was suffering and needed to be euthanased. On ringing the door bell I was point blank refused to be seen being told firstly "that they do not carry the correct drugs to treat the animal", which is a lie as all vet practices carry euthanasia medication and then when I questioned this they then said rudely "they were not allowed to take wild animals in". You are supposed to a 24 hour vet service and a vet cannot unreasonably refuse to provide emergency first aid and pain relief to a wild animal, as this is a breach of professional standards and the law. While a vet may not be equipped for long-term rehabilitation, they must provide immediate emergency care and then provide details of a more appropriate service, such as a wildlife rescue or specialist vet. Refusing any level of care can be a violation of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) code of conduct. Thankfully the Grove in Fakenham were much more accommodating and took the deer in to be euthanased, shame is took me to drive another hour round trip to get this poor animal treated.

19th Oct 2025 we had to rush our dog Max to you for breathing and possible stroke ,we were seen immediatley had consultation and ultrasound of abdomen that i cannot fault. and was disgussed about possible bloods, but they felt it was a neurlogical issue "re the stroke and possibly was ancious. so it was agreed with the vet that we would take him home but just before we left his breathing got heavier so i callled back the vet as we were in reception at this point he still could not stand (reply was- take him home ,) when we got home he started to scream in pain he could not see us or stand) so my husband called vets now after 3 attemps of someone actually answering, we were told there also be an extra out of hrs charge again, and another 50 mile round trip they said bring him back , with max deterioating i called another vet then managed to get a local vet who we drove to immediatley as time was of the essence they done another ultra sound on his chest immediatly cos the breathing was bad, they found a mass and fluid around his heart and lungs. at that moment our world fell apart . why was this not picked up by the 1st ultra sound we were told we had to let him go .i just feel that this should have been picked up on first instant instead of him struggling for extra time and stressing him in his last hours i called you to let you know that we had lost max the next day ! out of kindness for our loss i thought you may have sent a card at least , so no........ i would not recommend

All good treatment and care wise except it's hard to understand why the costs are10 times more than a non emergency vets

Staff are fantastic, the vet I saw was really knowledgeable and the reception staff are so lovely. The one issue I have is the price which is huge for just the visit. I really think this should be looked at. People are bringing their pets in because they are desperate for treatment, and they are being charged triple an ordinary vet bill for the visit alone. I understand that out of hours will be more, but not that much!

Phoned Mill House Hospital in Kings Lynn Norfolk, arrived 30 mins after call, my dog Bear was choking and was trying to clear his throat, waited a short time before seeing the vet, vet checked him out, he had a high temperature, the said she believes he throat was clear. She gave him pain injection, it's a good service but it's very expensive for the amount of time you are there

The emergency out of hours cost is the biggest rip off going. My daughter and I took her 3 month pup to kings lynn . And before she put the phone down she was told it would be over £200 for the vet to her pup. We went and was deeply disappointed we were charged another £182 to take his temperature and give him paracetamol . We could not believe it. My daughter has a horse and the out of hours call out fee is not this much. Why is Vets now fee so expensive

We had a bad experience with vets now at kings lynn. He suddenly had breathing difficulties so we took him in for an emergency appointment. He was wrongly diagnosed with kennel cough and given some medication. That cost £380. Two days later I had to rush him back for another emergency appointment in the middle of the night. The vet wanted £3000 for scans and x rays. We had to pay another £180. The next morning I took him to Dersingham vets. She took one look, gave him a steroid injection and 4 hours later he was fine. He'd just had an allergic reaction to something. It cost only £54. I feel vets now were just in it for the money. No compassion or empathy. Just how much they could get. We do not recommend at all. Having an emergency with your pet on a Saturday at 0630 hrs it is very reassuring to know you can call a vet and be seen straight away. Yes. It’s expensive. But these guys work nights and it’s worth it for your beloved pet. Both receptionist and vet were amazing with my cat.
